Id say second one, the first is a pose which is seen far too often in my opinion.

I think the weapon itself is too generic; for instance, if it was a 2nd world war bazooka, that would give your character a place and time and allow you to further distinguish her from 'generic wet-dream girl warrior we've all seen a billion times' - likewise, if you gave her a bloody great gatling gun. I think one of the weaknesses of your design is that it's not clear 'when' she's happening...

The time period is meant to be more sci-fi.
It's a time period where there's space flight and what not. However, it's not a future where there's lasers and stuff like that. So I want to keep the weapons based in our reality. Perhaps I'll take a WW1 or 2 weapon and sci fi it up a bit. Or something like that.
